June 11, 1991 - Wichita Falls, Texas. A beautiful grove of trees. Nine partially burned and dismembered bodies. The torsos were strung onto a chain like necklace trinkets and wrapped around the trunk of a large live oak. The arms lay radiating from the base - hands cupped, turned upwards, holding the heads. A short distance away, the legs were found in a pile. Scribbled onto a dirty piece of cardboard beside them: “They won’t need these anymore”. A monster had been let out to play. "No Man Could've Done This" - Fourth in the five-part series 'Bodies'. Mixed media on plywood. My 119th painting.

Are you sure you wanna post all this publicly, SEIH??
Are these just excerpts/teasers from your upcoming art fused with fiction book??
05-03-2023, 01:23 PM
Because you know what I'd say...
You better be making a fucking book out of it, and if you are... It's fine to share excerpts throughout your social media to get people stoked about the eventual release of the book. But if you're not planning on releasing a book, I will have to punish you.

The vignettes describe the paintings. In 118, you see the bodies laid out on the bench.

Just a little something to accompany the paintings to kind of give some imagery. I'd like to one day write this as a short story but it'll have to be further on down the line.

Well I am just stoked to see you still painting and creating.
I just see so much value for a macabre art book here, and I'm constantly projecting my stiffy for books onto other people.

I really enjoy it. Never thought I would've done it this long! Soon it'll be two years!
One day, I might take a crack at that book idea. Sounds fun.

June 25, 1991 - Lawton, Oklahoma. The morning was warm and still. Beams of sunlight washed over the derelict playground. An unsettling quiet hung in the air. Not even the birds would sing. A body discovered on the merry-go-round. Male, Caucasian, 60’s. Skinned - neck to knees. Genitals burned off by some form of acid. His head was covered in a blood-stained hood. Bound tightly to the bars of the apparatus with ligatures that appeared to be human skin - quite possibly the victim’s own. Closer inspection of the body would reveal several things. First - the man’s identity. He was a well-known Oklahoma City judge. Second, a single word carved into his forehead: GUILTY. Third, a partially burned US flag rammed down his throat - rupturing the esophagus. Lastly, a wooden gavel. It had been forced into the rectum far enough to impact the small intestine. This was a message. It could even be said that this was an act of vengeance. The well-known judge had a reputation - one for handing out slap-on-the-wrist sentencing to those charged with crimes against children. He failed society for decades with impunity. He was no longer untouchable. ONE MONTH LATER DNA evidence from the five different crime scenes had returned conclusive. Each of the nineteen victims, all identified. Excluding the judge, the remaining eighteen individuals - thirteen male, five female - shared something in common. One - they had all been convicted child abusers. Two - they had also, at one time or another, stood in front of this very same judge to receive their punishment. Those terribly lenient sentences that put them back on the streets far too soon, to re-offend. This was indeed a message. One that clearly spoke the words - NO MORE. To date - the killer has not been identified. There have been no leads on the case. "Still Out There" - Final in the five-part series 'Bodies'. Mixed media on plywood. My 120th painting.

The stories are disturbing as shit, but your texture work has only gotten better over time man, hot damn! It's your "signature move" if you will... your artist calling card. Pretty damn unique to tell you the truth.

The judge was on a playground in Lawton, a considerable distance from home.
Did he go there himself? Was he, too, a pedophile out looking for victims? Is that why he was so lenient towards child molesters?

Thank you Chatwoman! That means a lot! I really enjoy making textures
and seeing how colors blend and work with the uneven, gritty surface. I want to write this series of "blurbs" out into a full-on short story one day. I wanted them to read - for the purposes of being paired with the paintings - as though they were half dramatic story, half police/autopsy report. Nothing flashy, just kind of matter-of-factly monotone. I thought it would lend to the creepiness of the events being detailed. And Dev - I think maybe Lawton was his hometown and the killer wanted to send him off where he entered this world. So probably abducted in OKC and taken to Lawton. Left on the playground in a cruel twist of irony. Also. very likely he was an abuser too. I enjoyed this series but it was pretty fuckin' heavy. The subject matter. So I'm thinking my next series will be on the paranormal. Or something.

October 1994 - Winston, Oregon.
Their new home in Oregon was everything they’d always wanted - spacious, well-built, fairly priced and the setting: beautifully rural. It was perfect - for a while. Then, those “not quite right” feelings, misplaced objects, noises at all hours - giving way to catastrophic events that could not be explained. The early days of Tom & Evelyn’s golden years. They never knew such things were possible. Unseen Static in the Room Figments They Speak A Most Violent Turn We Must Leave Here A new painting series - piercing the veil, soon...

SEIH, I was thinking about your stories the other day and wondering when/if you were gonna post more.
What you're doing is very unique and intriguing.
06-09-2023, 05:04 PM
I can see how it's all unfolding and fitting together now... really special.

Thank you!! After I post the teaser I always feel the pressure set in.
A little voice goes off "Yeah, don't fuck it all up dummy!" lol So the switch has been flipped and the race is on to not make this whole thing suck.
That's actually a very smart psychological tactic to get work done.

I don't have any of the micro-stories written yet - just notes, ideas, potential dialogue.
These will probably be a little longer than a lot of the previous ones have been. Not super long, maybe three to four paragraphs each. Enough to tell the story in adequate detail without droning on in unnecessary wordplay. Write, edit, repeat. : ) |
