Orville drives through the gateless fence of an old abandoned airstrip just outside of town.
His jalopy creeping slowly towards a much nicer, already parked car just beyond the hangar.
Exhaust from the finer automobile billows in the cold night air. There appears to be two
occupants inside. A driver and a passenger seated in the back. Orville was nervous.
He kills the engine, exits his vehicle and scurries over to join the waiting party.
Once inside, he shakes off the cold. "Evening, m'lady" he says.
A very serious Ms. Atwood leans forward in her seat.
"Do you have her?" she says calculatingly.
Orville trapped in silence, giving concentrated effort to his next few words.
"There were unforeseen complications, ma'am" he trembled.
Atwood glared at him with the blackest contempt. She was no one to disappoint.
"Well that is unfortunate, isn't it?" she said with veiled disgust.
Orville was frozen in terror. He had no excuses. His judgment lacking, the mistake was his alone.
He would bear the mighty weight of this outcome.
"Orville... darling..." beckoned Ms. Atwood.
Nervous tears began to fill his eyes.
"Go home. Think about what you've done. What you failed to DO" Atwood calmly demanded.
He snapped back to reality, wiped the tears away and ejected himself from the fine leather interior
of Ms. Atwood's car. Once back in his own, he fired up the engine and raced away.
