I used to do this all the time, but it only happened in company. For me it was because I didn't want to admit that it was getting under my skin or fucking with my nervous system or hurting my soul because that seemed weak, so I would mock it or act like I was the greater evil, like "pffft, you think this shit is horrible? Get in my head for an hour." When really I just wanted to hug the protagonist or whatever. Lol. Is that at all similar to what you're describing?"
On the other hand... everyone has a shadow side. Sometimes seeing something evil play out can be kind of thrilling. Just depends, I guess. On the scene... your mood? I don't know.
