TL;DR, a "super structure" was discovered around a star and it seemed to be of unnatural origin due to the way it reflects light...
It's been theorized that this structure was a "shield" designed by a nearby advanced civilization in order to protect their tech from the inevitable EMP.
Didn't work.
Again, just an idea... and I'm not saying I believe this particular theory.
