Yep, exactly the same situation for anyone who gets tech implants... really bad idea.
But these technological advancements (NeuraLink etc.) are the typical desperate white knuckling of life that we always see out of corrupt humanity.
Humanity in its greatest form embraces its inevitable demise, and at most may send a data loaded craft (like the Voyager message) out into space in an effort to have its consciousness potentially preserved.
Of course, there's the wall of the bubble which stops it from going beyond our system, and since no one can get in anyway, the most we can hope is that lifeforms which evolve on other bodies within our solar system may find it someday.
It's all futile... and we should start to appreciate that rather than try to outsmart the natural system.
This is what makes interdimensional beings so dangerous... because the only real way for consciousness to "live on" is to transcend the physical and be transmitted beyond physical barriers.
We also do this naturally already, so that too is pointless.
But corrupt "advanced" consciousness always finds some kinda way to meddle and do things in an unnatural, typically disastrous fashion.
