How about we build that cabin with high speed internet and get a nice desktop and a nice laptop and a nice large tablet device for the bed...
And maybe on the weekend I will give you a shove off with my foot and you can go hang out in the tarp boat for a few days while I have fun alone.

I don’t think I’d sleep well on a boat.
I am so fucking digging that Chinese junk though.
You can't live on a houseboat in Louisiana unless you rent a lot from someone who owns lakefront property. You have to know the right people and have patience to pull that off. The people who already rent the lots aren't going to give them up as long as they're alive.
You might be able to get away with living on Caddo Lake for a few days if you cross back and forth between Texas and Louisiana every so often. You can't just permanently have your boat on the lake though. You have to be able to put it on a trailer and move it at a moment's notice.
Apparently it's different in the UK and Australia. I see stories all the time about people retiring on canal and river boats.

I think it's a great idea to live on a houseboat if you're into that kinda thing. Just seems dangerous.
It wouldn't be that dangerous if you knew what you were doing. You'd be tied to a pier in water up to your waist most of the time. The pontoons have a styrofoam core to keep them from filling with water if you get a hole in one of them.

That's true. I just do not grasp the principles behind navigating boats and ships.
