There is a poisonous plant that looks like the wild onions...
But rule of thumb is if you pull 'em out of the ground and they smell like onions, then they are indeed onions.
I am very excited about this.

It's been a great many years since I actually ate onions out of the yard.
It's always a truly wonderful experience, I dunno why I don't do it more often.
You know I think it's a shame that people mow their yards in the summer and destroy the wild onions.

I used to eat them without washing them or anything...
I'll be rinsing and sauteing these.
The ones that grow over the sewage line and septic tank? I love those. They're like a cross between onions and garlic.

Yeah they're gorgeous...
Not super tall yet though.
I feel like they could be left to grow a bit longer...
But I really can't wait.
That said, I still haven't taken my ass out and gathered any, LMAO!
I will though, I will.
These are growing in a lot of areas of the yard, some look more attractive than others, I go for height...
If I do go out there and pull some up and they're NOT onions, I'ma be disappointed.

They're fine, it's all good.

I made bean soup with spinach...
I made a baller rice with carrots, lima beans, green beans, more spinach, and of course the yard onions...
Seasoned it all up with garlic, salt, pepper, a conservative bit of turmeric, parsley, oregano...
Cooking is a gift from above, it's one of the top 5 things in life that make me the happiest.
