I've been making a crazy epic salad lately... sliced strawberries, chopped walnuts, and cranberry raisins, tossed with lemon juice and parsley, topped with shredded cheese and a bitchin' raspberry vinaigrette. It's mega refreshing.

While we're on that subject, if you have any good ideas for ingredient substitutions, please post them.

The stew recipe called for tomato soup and 1/4 packet of taco seasoning. I didn't have either, and I don't like to use part of a packet of anything. The remainder usually sits around for a long time and ends up going to waste.

For these items, I substituted the cumin, chili powder, and tomato sauce. Cumin and chili powder are generally good for anything that needs a taco-like flavor.

My dad says sugar is a good substitute for rosemary, but I'm not sure about that. Spices were worth their weight in gold at one point in European history. I doubt they sailed all the way to India and China and forked out all that dough for something that has the same effect as cheap ass cane sugar.

Customary "hot summer day" type of situation, it's my way of celebrating warm weather...

Highlighting how warm it is by having a "cool refreshing" meal that commemorates the warmness.

It's all psychological tactics to get the most out of the four seasons as a cook/homemaker.

I would just say... ditch the rosemary and just don't. Like please just don't.

Don't even use it. Leave out whatever you see fit to leave out and you don't have to substitute it with anything.

Rosemary is great, but not for actual use in seasoning food. It's my least fave flavor wise.

It's great for other (non-food) things though.

The typical Italian seasoning has rosemary in it. That's what I use because anything that calls for rosemary usually calls for some of the other spices in Italian seasoning as well. Putting in a little of something that isn't called for won't hurt much.
