*sigh*

I think you're right. Gab has profound technical issues due to the recent massive increase in traffic that make it unusable for hours at a stretch. Despite the developers working overtime to "scale up" the system, the same issues arise every single day. Gab is frustrating to use on a good day. I've wasted more time than I care to simply trying to post a message or get my notifications to show up.

I understand "growing pains" when a website suddenly grows beyond its original constraints.

I understand the enormous complexity of building a notification system that has to notify everyone who has interest in this or that event in a timely manner, having built that kind of system myself on a smaller scale.

Maybe that's the point. Elaborate systems work up to a point, then get crushed by a heavy user load. The solution is always to throw more resources and complexity at the problem. No one ever considers the possibility that maybe their goals are unrealistic, and maybe they should be content to develop a smaller community or presence.

There are some great posters on Gab nowadays, some on par with the best Twitter had to offer before the censorship ramped up in dead earnest; but most of the content is the same old memes and alternate media news stories regurgitated ad nauseum.

At any rate, I'm not going to let someone else's website drive me up the fucking wall. I deleted my Gab account - again.

I only ever had a FB and Twitter for my "music thing". Opened both around March/April 2013.
Had the FB page [band/musician profile] until sometime in 2015 when I came across some info
saying that anything uploaded to the site was somehow magically, through a fucked up loophole,
subject to their ownership.

Meaning videos, music, pictures, media of any kind became the property of FB inc. once you click
that post button. I said fuck all that noise! So I deleted what I could [links to my music platforms]
and changed my password to some long string of random nonsense, so if the account was ever hacked
they wouldn't get the password I used there that I also [at the time] used on other sites.

The Twitter I kept because of funny shit I'd read. Shout out to Sarah Nacho, Enid Coleslaw and Megan Amram!
Bitchiz had me trippin ALL the damn time! Funny chicks! Oh and Bad Advice Dog!! lol

But I deleted it in August 2017 after finding myself anger-scrolling for an hour, DAILY, and just hating life.
Fuck wasting time like that. World tragedies and stupid ass people can't become a priority unless you're
just a glutton for punishment. No thanks.

Oh, I didn't bother trying to "delete" the FB account because I saw several places
where it was said that you couldn't actually do it. That deleting the profile only just
made it "Inactive". It was still there and on the servers. Fuck that site and its people!

I've heard people complain that Faecesbook imported their content from another site without their permission, then claimed ownership of it.

Right? In the days before I deleted Gab, I found myself doing that and having to log off to avoid getting sucked in.

I actually clicked off a Terrence Popp video halfway through on ThemTube today, even though he's funny as hell, because he started in on the culture war shit and I suddenly felt sick of hearing it.
