INFINITY SONG

Pretty cool. Now, I'ma get nerdy with it.
Being someone that kinda fucks with the music thing, I can GUARANTEE you they were EVERY SINGLE ONE sat strategically on and around that couch. Firstly: Mic placement. I'm guessing it was just the one? Maybe a condenser room mic to pick up the whole thing. Not sure about the mic on the recording device. Maybe THAT was their only mic but I can't say for sure as my current headphones are substandard. And dealing with single-mic set-ups, you have to position your sound source[s] in their best placements. Meaning, the thing/person you want loudest, closest to the mic. The lesser the volume you want the further away you place the sound source. Also, their sitting arrangement: Without doubt they HAD to sit where they did according to mic placement and their particular part of the performance. How it would be captured and heard in the final stereo field. I'm betting they had to practice this song in EXACTLY the spots they're in, in this video. Their sitting positions would 100% bear on how those vocal harmonies would settle. There is of course the possibility that this was all improv and they just winged it. But from my very limited recording/engineering knowledge, all that I said above would and should [in most cases] be taken into account. Best foot forward and all. They did good. I like that song. And Steve Winwood.

OK, I'm at 2:35 and it sounds like the recording device IS their only mic. As far as what is
being heard in the video. Rules still apply. One dude in the front, one in the back. Balance and layering. Making the most of what they're doing with minimal equipment.
They've got the magic...
