The algorithm has turned against them...

No, I don't think it matters which host you choose.

That's the problem...

In the future, our only choice may be to run our own servers and install all the hullabaloo on them which enables websites to run.

I can't say much more about it at this point because I COULD be wrong, and I really really wanna be.

I've run sites on a home account before. The ISPs try to prevent it, so you usually have to use some kind of dynamic DNS service to keep your domain name pointed at your home server.

One guy on YouTube recommends Hostinger, Bluehost, and SiteGround as the three best providers. I think he has affiliate links in the description, so it may not be a totally unsolicited testimonial.

Nice tip, thank you Dev.

It would be something I've never done before, and that makes me feel some type of way.

I am a bit ashamed that I've always depended on webhosts and never learned to do it myself.

I'd be able to do it, but I'd have to learn, and it's always easier to learn when you're younger, lol.

Should have tackled that learning curve a long time ago. If I gotta do it, I will do it.

You also need to forward the HTTPS port 443 in your router to the computer you're hosting the site on. You can actually use any unassigned port, but 443 is the default. Any other port number you'd have to add to the domain name, e.g., https://mysite.com:1337/blah/blah/blah.

While you can host an Apache / PHP / MySQL on Windows (WAMP), and it's super easy to do so, it's not recommended. Install Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP (LAMP) on an old PC. It's more complicated, but also way more secure.

Yeah, security would be really important to me.

I really appreciate your information Dev.

Ivan, a salesman at SiteGround, said their GrowBig and GoGeek plans will both meet all my requirements. The YouTube guy said they're the fastest of the three, with 1.0 second page loads for WordPress sites vs. 1.4 or 1.6 seconds for the other two.

https://www.siteground.com/web-hosting.htm

My site ain't no WordPress site. Everything was pretty fast with flat file caching on Bluehost, and it'll be fast as hell with memcached, which can be enabled with the flick of a switch in the SiteGround control panel.

I talked to the vanlife people.

So, the are sub-dividing one of my neighbors properties. He's basically splitting up his 40 acres, and selling them each 5 acres.

They said they were "nomads," before. They looked to be about late 20's early 30's.

There are about 8 vans down there. So it was a pretty big group.

The guy was chill. And said I could come by and hang out with them. I gave them a few tips about the area, and showed them where I lived.

Alright. Yeah, it seemed like an interesting an useful application.  I hope it works out, for whatever you end up using it for.

Shit must be getting way out of hand with the mobile lifestyle over in AZ.

Doesn't bode well for the future.

They were from Oregon. My area is really friendly to RV dwellers though, or trailers, or whatever you want to call it.

The guy that actually owns the property has an RV on it.

We know AI wasn't really created to make search engines even better, easier, and faster to use...

That's just a front.

And I really doubt it was created with a main focus of REPLACING humans, in jobs or otherwise.

Sure, it'll replace humans in a lot of jobs. And it'll probably fail miserably, necessitating the eventual return of actual humans to some of those jobs.

But AI was created for some other reason...

So what is it?

Oh my God... she's right.

Rage
Google and Bing paid all this money for this AI, which has totally fucked their product up.
Try searching for things now? Gives totally stupid results.
I mean its like paying someone 500 bucks to smash your car with an axe why would you pay to make your product worse?
Unless they truly are retarded inbreeds?
