Smokie got a different lead singer in later years.  During his tenure,  the song "Living Next Door to Alice" gained a new line, shouted out by the audience at concerts:

"Alice? Who the fuck is Alice?"

Totally unnecessary and lowbrow as fuck.

I change the lyrics a little bit myself when I sing it. It's just as lowbrow as the "Who the fuck is Alice?" line, I suppose, but I feel that it conveys what the original singer was thinking in a less roundabout way.

Where he says:

Twenty-four years, just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance

I changed it to:

Twenty-four years, just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get into her pants

I mean c'mon. We know that's what he meant.
