80s music was very basic, you just said what you were doin'... Def Leppard was Foolin' and Corey Hart was Wearing His Sunglasses At Night

Now that I think about it Def Leppard was NOT Foolin'.... so sometimes it was the opposite of what you were doin'. Still pretty basic lol

Coincidentally 3 years later Wilford Brimley started doing his diabetes commercials.

This is one of the most beautiful music videos ever made. Aesthetically, it looks like what I dream of the '80s being even though I wasn't there, the same essence captured by today's retrowave genre. But it REALLY IS from the '80s. There's this sense of time traveling, but also being wholly removed from time... It's safe in a place that never changes, and it really never existed at all. And Toyah looks so beautiful. I had never heard of her until a few months back when I saw one of the home-job music videos she makes with her husband... She's 67, and he's 79. But man, the energy they're still imbued with is infectious. If I ever get to be old, I hope to be like Toyah.

I don't think I'll make it that long, for a variety of reasons. But from what I've seen, 99% of the time it doesn't look much fun to get old anyway. And if you don't live to be "old", you die before you get old... that's kinda how it works. So if getting old really sucks that much, I guess dying before then isn't too bad of a deal. Just as long as you accomplished whatever you thought your mission was, what does it matter?

So since this is the "official music thread" I am just gonna post this here, cuz I have no idea where else to post it. They're now just straight up using AI music generators to create songs for groups that are made of real people. These chicks have been trying to be a pop group for years, but it looks like they're just now getting attention. You can tell when songs are AI generated by certain sound quality issues, and another big giveaway is that they're usually anywhere from 1:50 to 2:50 in length. They usually never reach 3 minutes. The ones that are almost 3 minutes long will usually have an abrupt point like 3/4 through where the beat totally changes and it may even sound like a different song entirely. That's because (for now anyways) AI song generators stop at like 1:50 and you have to generate an entirely new song "inspired" by the original and pin it onto the end of the original to create a longer song. I guess what I'm trying to say is... It's a dire state of affairs. The world getting used to AI is gonna be a chaotic, cringe era. It's gonna be embarrassing. People are gonna be fooled left and right by AI generated stuff for quite a while before they start to recognize it right off the bat, if that point even comes. I don't even know how to feel about this shit.

Humans are just gonna start modeling AI created stuff.
For a while. The human models will probably be replaced by AI models and personalities VERY quickly. I dunno what the future is gonna look like.

Guess we'll just have to enjoy live shows by our old favorite human stars while we can!

Def Leppard said "it's better to burn out than fade away"... AC/DC seems like they're doing both at the same time lol

These guys still sound pretty good anyway.

A friend in high school had a girl shave a Depeche Mode "DM" logo into his chest hair while heading to a track meet on the bus.
Wonder if AI bands will ever inspire such devotion lol

Man elderly AC/DC really shook me out of my adolescent nostalgia mode lol... Trying more recent nostalgia of 2000s one hit wonders

Dunno they may have more than one good song... oh well YT has 9 billion and soon they'll have infinite AI lol can't blame a band for letting one be used in a coke commercial.
It's actually way too hot to enjoy the silence. |
