Are long fingernails really that great??

Hmmm
I don't know.

Is it great or is it just stupid?

What is the point really?

I mean I get the deeper meaning behind fingernails themselves... http://www.sectual.com/thread-1898.html

I feel like it gets to a certain point where it's overboard...

Like some of my nails are starting down curl down to where I can't set my fingertip down flat.

I feel like that's where it gets too the point that it's just... too much.

They're long but they're not THAT long. When I look at them I feel like they could be longer.

They don't LOOK that long to me. But they're starting to hit the point of being level with my fingertip.

They're like a half inch long now. I just haven't cut them. It's not really on purpose... it just happened, over time.

Will they just stop growing like hair does?? My hair reaches a natural point where it just stops growing.

And I feel like it gets too long at that point... but it's manageable. It DOES stop... so I feel like that's the natural point and it's fine.

But with nails, I don't really know. When they start getting level with the fingertip, basic shit starts getting more difficult.

And I don't really like that. I feel like they're just gonna keep growing and this is different than hair.

So for that reason I'm not really sure where to draw the line. It must be exactly like I suspect. It's when they get level with the fingertip. That's the stopping point.

Having to maintain that really seems like... too much work, sorta tedious. I'm not really about that.

I don't want to cut them off though. They get thicker and stronger every time they get long.

Like the first time they got this long, they weren't as strong and it was hard not to break them...

But now they're basically hard as fuck, and that gets pretty hard to cut through.

Whenever they get long and I cut them off, it just doesn't seem right afterward. It seems like I've lost something...

They're like a bunch of extra appendages and it seems wrong when they're missing, seems really weird.

So I guess I'll just have to maintain them at a specific length, and that's a lot of work.

I don't like to have to do much to them aside from paint them like once every 1.5 weeks or something.

Polish remover is so harsh and poisonous, it's just best to avoid as much as possible. So in order to do that you gotta learn how to maintain the polish and whatnot.

And I've gotten to the point where I'm really good at it. I just like to keep the work to a minimum, I'm not a hair/nails/makeup kinda person, it's too time consuming and tedious.

I'm just thinking out loud here. There is absolutely no point to this. At all. Not even sure why I typed this out.

I love kittens, they're so soft and cuddly. I love butterflies and dolphins. And pretty colors. K, I'm done.

I have seen pictures, I think they were Guinness records of long nails all twisted and spiral. I do beleive that they only grow straight out for an undefined length, then they take uncontrolled twists and turns. :) The picture I saw was an old oriental guy with like foot long nails or somethig. Just going by memory. It may be that fake nails were developed because some ladys, like youself Trixie, have nails that start to bend rather quickly after they extend past the fingertip. :)

Yep. 100%. You're 100% right.

That's when it starts to happen...

They start to bend and twist.

I was hoping to get an intelligent man's opinion on this!!!

I played around with the fake nails years ago before I ever knew how to take care of natural nails.

It was an eye opening experience, very damaging to the natural nails, causes total loss of strength on the entire nail and it has to grow out entirely and be replaced before they are strong enough to hold natural length.

I'll definitely never do that again!!!

I just love to be able to have long natural nails...

I've never made it to the point of decision when it comes to maintaining optimal length before though.

I think the most interesting part is how much they strengthen once they get used to growing long.

Even the nail bed grows out longer, it's pretty fascinating.

Anything Natural is obviously the better choice. Everything we enhance either through appliance or drug becomes weaker. Whether it be our bodies, minds or souls, a natural course of maintenance and recovery is best and the unnatural only weakens the issue more.

Yep, so true.

I used to be heavy into makeup when I was a bit younger.

I don't know why/how I made the time to do that shit, every single day.

So much better to not care, and just get straight into having fun every day.

Rather than rubbing makeup all over your face for an hour.

It's just a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy doing it every now and then...

I still enjoy putting a little bit of makeup on sometimes, and definitely for photoshoots.

Getting all serious about it for everyday life though? Screw that.

And of course makeup specifically, clogs up the pores, causes more problems than it helps.

It's also full of lots of toxins and whatnot. That weakens the body.

I've written at length about all the fake and damaging trends going on out there these days and their profound negative psychological effects...
