These forums are all sort of their own time capsules that preserve a certain way of life (on the internet) and they're different from any other kind of site.
Twitter, Fakebook, none of the sorry internet ghettos come close to being as cool as even the most boring message board that ever existed.
Yeah, only Reddit compares. But it is for sure overrun by algorithm manipulation now. I got into forums about 5-10 years ago, so not that much experience with them. I would only read them back then too.

I could never find good sub-reddits myself.
I think I missed the boat on Reddit.

I find people on Reddit to be mostly annoying. LOL. I kind prefer social media, but it is so boring too. I just watch Youtube, and streams. That is my jam.

All of the people who have been forum citizens since the '90s knew Reddit was controlled opposition the minute we saw it...

It's a normie-approved version of message boards. Its built in self-moderation ensures that members toe the line and never really let loose with their opinions, lest their posts be down-voted and auto-hidden, or they be banned.
Garbage site just like all the other mass popularized sites.

Yeah, I figured all of that out pretty quick. But I do work in IT, so I knew what was going on behind the scenes there on Reddit, pretty obvious, down voting, upvoting.

Comments get hidden, for sure. Youtube does it too...

That's not to say there isn't some good info on Reddit...
There absolutely is, because it comes from actual people having actual experiences in life which they then share on a totally controlled, thankless platform that will never pay them back on any level whatsoever for the priceless info they share...

Yeah, this so much. That is why I always liked Youtube. Because it was always about being a small business, and a channel you got paid to do. Blogs are similar. And social media like IG, Twitter somewhat but not much.

You can't have a non-political discussion on Reddit without some clown chipping in their butthurt opinion of Donald Trump. I always ended up deleting my account within a week or so.

Twitter will be the best of any of the platforms when it comes to actually seeing a few pennies from the work you put in, solely because of Elon's direction with the site.
He'll rename it pretty soon.

Yeah, it needs to be monetized. It would make it so much cooler. I didn't know Elon was doing that.

There are some minimum requirements, gotta have a following etc., but it's already a lot more reasonable than YouTube's ridiculous requirements.

Cheap Charlie is live (Billy Blue).
His streams are so funny, if you can understand what he is all about.
He gets dumb guys to donate to him bc they like seeing Asian women. But all he actually does is wander aimlessly around Asia, drink coffee, and talk to locals. He is seriously kind of a genius, and super down to earth.
His streams are hours long, so most people would find them extremely boring.
He used to sell magic the gathering cards, which he would buy in Japan, that is why he travels in Asia. He used to sell stuff on Ebay. He is a pro at the "cheap charlie" lifestlye in Asia, and avoids all of the hustles that the locals try to pull on him. It is pretty funny.

You ever gone over to Asia? Sounds like you've picked up a lot of info from his vids and probably know what tricks to watch out for. Way safer when you know what to expect.

Nope, never been. I would probably go to India if I travelled to that area of the world.
I'm actually not that interested in world travel for leisure. I am more interested in like buying land somewhere like Portugal and actually living there as a citizen.

Hell yeah, if Asia is not your thing, exchange it for Portugal. Sounds awesome.

Yeah it would be cool to live in Europe I think. That is an affordable area to live too.
