Actual Thoughts I've Had, Verbatim...

So I watched this. Prettymuch unenthused about the whole thing now, and really can't see anything likable about the show.

The girl who plays Wednesday is the only good casting choice they made IMO, and the character is not very likable.

The casting on the '90s Addams Family was great... I think they nailed every character.

Ricci's version of Wednesday was far more likable personality wise, there was some vague hint of softness and potential nicety in there whether it came out or not. The new Wednesday is just a stone cold bitch and it's not even fun.

The ORIGINAL Wednesday acted just like a normal kid, but the only thing off and quirky about it were the situations, the lines, etc. So it's like her character has been in this slow degradation over the iterations of the show. I don't think it was necessary to make her a bitch.

Not even an Addams Family fan BTW, I was team Munsters... far superior.

Man honestly, no. Could say that about Ricci's Wednesday...

But this new one just kinda sucks IMO.

I'm sure the actress is talented and she's cute or whatever but...

What's cute when it's wasted on a bitch character?

There's no way she can top Ricci's performance anyway...

The scene where she forces herself to smile, I mean good luck topping that shit.

I didn't even know this existed...

Never even heard of it coming out or anything.

Wouldn't that be the first remake of the show at all??

Grandpa was excellently cast. He's my fave character from the show anyways.

I think it seems pretty funny. I don't really like the more macabre approach the Addams takes.

It's ALL completely ridiculous and therefore it shouldn't take itself seriously, so the Munsters remake seems like a success to me.

Nevermind, there were other Munsters reboot dealios. I've only ever seen the original show.

I liked Melissa Hunter's Adult Wednesday Addams YouTube indie series. Hunter as Wednesday was sinister and funny at the same time.

The Tee and Charles Addams Foundation copyright striked her on it, for obvious reasons.

They probably couldn't get away with much back in the 60's.

I mean Hunter would've been an obvious choice for the role on Netflix.

See, that's how Wednesday Addams should be, and it's VERY funny. The humor is perfect, great atmosphere too. It relies on her presence and her lines to give it that camp but also macabre twist. Really fucking excellent.

She writes her own scripts and gags, so she probably would've ad libbed brilliantly in someone else's production. Missed opportunity for the franchise there.

Melissa looks a little old to be Wednesday, but that doesn't matter so much when you nail the part.

She's... adult Wednesday.

I can see how it'd be a hard choice on some levels, but I am team Lily Munster.

I actually really like Morticia's natural makeup though. That's win.

I think I might be partial to Lily Munster cuz Yvonne De Carlo kinda looks like my grandma though.

Carol Jones had that mysterious, perennially amused look that made her a natural fit for Morticia.

Lily looks like the bride of Frankenstein from 50s horror movies.

I think the Addams Family was more well developed overall due to having been in a sophisticated magazine like the New Yorker for years before being made into a TV series.

Yeah, I think that aspect of the Addams Family is really cool... interesting history.

I could have sworn I had discussed Yvonne De Carlo on this site, not just once but a few times at least.

I remember doing so.

But there's absolutely nothing before now when I do a search.

I guess it was elsewhere.

There was apparently a monster craze in pop culture around the time both shows aired.

I think they even played Monster Mash on the Munsters. Or was it Happy Days? Lol, so similar, hard to say.
