Brilliant find, that is HILARIOUS!!! Not only does Caroline read the bible verse out loud, they keep showing us the written text and zooming in on it, with dramatic, foreboding music.
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that
never shall be quenched:
cut it off... CUT IT OFF
I accepted it BLINDLY. And I was twelve (I know because it was right after we moved to a new place).
Plus it pops into my head every couple of years and I've never stopped to ask myself wait, she was going to cut her leg off?

ROFLLLL!!!!!
But you know what, on a serious note...
This is a good example of how much TV/movies actually impact us.
This stuff gets buried in our minds, and it’s there for good.
Everything we’ve ever seen is still in there.
I think I am going to start being careful of what I watch.

Melissa Sue Anderson was obviously the prettiest but I'm pretty sure she eventually left the show.

Didn't you call it though!
So this thread sent me on such a journey the other night I hardly knew what to bring back.
Probably the best find - the old 'Jump the Shark' website is still available in the wayback machine at Archive dot org.
And even though it only got one vote, there IS a jump the shark category, 'Ma almost cuts off her leg.'

BAHAHAHAHAHA OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't thought about that site in YEARRRRSSSS.
LOL I loved those kinda sites... they were so fun back in the day.
Do you remember the sites where the made up magic genie dude would try to guess what movie/TV character you were thinking of?
So creepy. There were only like 2 times I actually gave it anything obscure enough that it couldn't guess.

Obviously the internet has been going on for so long at this point that every character there is has probably been fed to it...
But back in like 2001 or something? Pft... it was way creepier.

Exactly!!! I thought 'Jump the Shark' was probably before your time, so I scrapped writing out how it's probably not as funny now as it was back then...
But before youtube & comments, twitter, message boards, etc. there was JTS - letting you know there were *others out there*....I laughed for days.
First important thing I ever found on the internet, actually.
Never saw the creepy akinator site! It's won't let me do anything unless I download something and these days I'm way too cautious.

Pretty sure Akinator isn't the original site...
Back in the day it was probably called something else.
But it looks like that one is the only one of the 'genie guesses your thoughts' sites left.
