There's a joint called Pops near Arcadia, Oklahoma that has every kind of soda you can imagine.

And there's a little motorcycle museum in an old gas station a bit east of there.

Just kidding. You're more likely to see the local scooter club parked outside. They had a preference for the Stella, marketed by Genuine Scooters, when I was rolling with them. The Stella wasn't just a copy of a vintage Vespa P-body, it was made in the same factory in India as the P-body after Piaggio abandoned it.

There was talk of upgrading the Stella to a modern four-stroke engine after California banned new two-stroke scooters. I don't know what became of that plan. The Stella isn't listed on their website anymore. The newer Grand Prix, Grand Tourer, and Bella Classic models have a similar but updated body style.

The Buddy, a rebadged Taiwanese budget scooter was also pretty popular, and is still being sold. My first scooter was a Buddy.

My second scooter was a new water-cooled, fuel-injected 278cc Vespa. That fucker was insane. Zero to 80 at the flick of a wrist. I totaled it, and damn near totaled myself on that thing.

I didn't really enjoy hanging out with the scooter club that much. Their only other interest, besides riding scooters, was getting shitfaced. I was more of a stoner. I like a good beer now and again, but I'm just not that big on drinking anymore.

I'm not sure. These guys have been doing a quantum shitload of jigsaw puzzles lately, so maybe it was inevitable at that rate that they'd lay hands on that particular puzzle. The timing was really weird though, like many of the other coincidences. The one where I picked up that old issue of People magazine at the doctor's office and saw things we'd been discussing comes to mind.

I made the original Art Bell emote too, but that one may have been reworked by another red board owner to clean up the transparency fuzz around the edges. These emotes got handed down and added to over the years, starting with FC in 2001 and continuing down to the current surviving boards. I found both a GIF and a PNG in my red board emotes folder, and I just picked the PNG thinking it must be newer.

Estelle Getty, on the other hand, was actually the second youngest cast member on The Golden Girls. She was 62, a year younger than Betty White and Bea Arthur. She played Sophia, who was 79 when the show started. The show's makeup department worked for hours to make her look older. She was furthest in age from her character on the show.

Message boards really do have their own culture... the vibe is sorta similar throughout. We've all had a lot of the same emoties.

These forums are all sort of their own time capsules that preserve a certain way of life (on the internet) and they're different from any other kind of site.

Twitter, Fakebook, none of the sorry internet ghettos come close to being as cool as even the most boring message board that ever existed.
