I read a news article the other day about how this dude has coded a bunch of thingies to automatically track different celebrities (particularly those popular in the tech field) by their flight/travel. He makes a Twitter page for each one.

The article was saying that Elon contacted this dude and asked him to take the Twitter page down where he's tracking Elon's private jet, citing it as a security risk.

It's creepy as heck, in my opinion.

The creator of the bot defends it by saying that all flight info is public.

I don't think that makes it okay though...

Just because info is public doesn't mean it needs to be aggregated.

Let's face it, there is essentially no good reason whatsoever for someone to be looking for that kind of information about specific celebs and public figures.

There's almost NO reason for it that isn't nefarious.

Elon probably gets his flights covered by Tesla since it's the private jet owned by Tesla.

If he is bothered by this crazy tracking (let's call it what it is... it's stalking) and as a result, he has to take another method of travel?

That's not cool at all. That puts him in unusual, changed-up situations that open him up to a whole bunch of potential shit that he wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise.

Say he has to take some other air craft? Well then he'd probably have to pay for that himself, and as I've said before, the guy isn't ACTUALLY the richest man in the world...

It's just the company's money. Are they gonna care too much about his personal safety and cover flights that are a little more anonymous? CAN he even do that? All kinds of weird shit these days with travel cuz of the CV.

So it makes a lot of potential inconveniences for him. Imagine Elon having to take first class on a regular flight? Are you kidding? Sweet mother of God. Hell no.

These are expenses that could drive him into the ground if it went on for too long.

It's definitely a form of harassment. Hopefully it's not anything worse than that.

Well, again, it's back to the point that it's SpaceX's private jet.

I said before that it was Tesla's jet, but actually I think it's SpaceX's.

But I am convinced he doesn't personally have the funds belonging to these corps and those decisions just may not be made by him.

I just hope he stays safe... it's sad to me that celebs (even those who are just in the tech industry and really shouldn't be considered celebs) are getting targeted by this kind of shit.

I think the communication he had with Sweeney was just opening the door for him to bring his concerns about it public.
