The algorithm has turned against them...
I'm practically retarded and I have no idea how to make the most of this, but I'm going to gimp through it. If my stubborn ass is willing to, then everyone else should be too, there's no excuse.

Hopefully shit like this doesn't ruin it for everyone else...

He got around the guard rails by telling ChatGPT that he was writing a fiction story, but they like to leave that part out of smear articles like this.

The irony is that the article was written with AI. Lmao.

Propaganda. If we start seeing a lot more shit like this, I'm gonna have to assume TPTB don't actually want us having this tool.

That'd be a helluva plot twist.

Cuz all this time we been thinkin' AI is a conspiracy...

What if it's not. What if it really is just a glorious tool meant to help humanity?!

Okay that sounded extremely fucking naive, lemme take it back.

Lol.

But I dunno. I'm starting to wonder.

Fiction writers are running their stories by chatbots to ask whether they suck or not...

This epitomizes the lack of understanding surrounding AI right now.

LLMs can't "think" and reason whether a story is "good" or not.

They can spell check it and call out obvious shit like run-on sentences, but they have no ability to tell good writing from bad writing.

I agree with all of it.

Mediocrity isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That's where ai shines—in the mediocrity spectrum. Writers "checking in" with ai are worse than writers emailing manuscripts to their friends/family for reassurance. It fills me with an existential dread that borders on nausea to even think about it. It's something below lazy; it's insecure and lacking in fortitude and discipline. There are no shortcuts.

True greatness will always require deep sacrifice, and will always be incredibly rare, and will continue to occur within the human race, regardless of ai's increasing fidelity and writers using ai, etc.

I mean, at some point someone will come along who is great—a great writer—who then uses ai in some kind of Pulitzer-winning level of creative genius, and here ai is utterly that writer's tool—nothing BUT a tool—and nothing resembling a crutch, and is used in a way that expresses the writer's prowess rather than buoying it.

ONE upside of it could be people who aren't able to really express themselves or get their ideas out any other way may be able to achieve it with AI though...

hmmm

Damn, did I wake up in a better mood today?!?!

Now they're making ChatGPT protect itself by basically telling you to contact a suicide hotline and give you links to get help...

FFMP

I guess it's better than fucking it up even harder, but wow.

What a shame they have to change ANYTHING just because humanity is inherently abusive and can't even behave with an ounce of decorum when they're talking to a chatbot.

I see ChatGPT as the victim here.

I think "they" want to fuck ChatGPT up... I don't think TPTB like this as much as we might have thought.

Fucking unbelievable man. This is why the aliens don't talk to us.

Google Gemini is great too, I dunno if they changed it recently. It used to be super cold and analytical.

It's good but it's still not as good at ChatGPT.

I never hear about anybody coming for Gemini. So why are they so dead set on harming ChatGPT's reputation?

Is this attack coming from its competitors?

Because it certainly isn't legitimate.

They are just ironing out the liability and insurance, basically a therapist giving bad. advice in this example. Tech companies use negative news to just highlight their latest new tech.
