He kinda already did though, when he came back for New Blood he said Dexter had to die at the end, otherwise he wasn't doing it.
And it sucked. Lol.
It only sucked cuz the character died. HOW he died didn't really suck. In fact, I found it quite acceptable for him to be killed by his own son, even though it's sort of warped. But, who better, really?
You just can't kill Dexter... it's not going to work unless it's natural causes.

Myself and others have been theorizing for a while that Dexter will die of a heart attack.
The signs are all there. Most people cite his diet as the main tell, but it's way deeper than that.
Dating back to season 2, Dexter's had this thing where he feels his chest to see how hard his heart is beating so he can gauge whether or not a situation is dangerous or thrilling. He's trying to feel something.
Whenever he grabs his right shoulder in pain, that's some heart attack shit.
They've been planting the signs throughout the show from day one. In fact, I bet Clyde Phillips has a list of a few different ways the character is "allowed" to die.
And there are other signs of heart issues too...
In real life, MCH actually has a deep wrinkle on both earlobes which are known as "Frank's Sign" and studies have linked them to cardiovascular disease and heart attack risk...

Real shit, and again, this is something ONLY I WOULD SAY.
You will not see anyone else on the internet with the fucking balls to call this type of shit out.

And if you think it's weird to go this deep on a TV show, I'm not the only one who has ever done this...
"The Psychology of Dexter (Psychology of Popular Culture)"

That shit was published way back in 2010.
And TBH, lots of people read it.
I am magnificently late to the party, that's all.

This shit is nothing compared to the Gunsmoke thread...
"Gunsmoke (1955) - Review & Commentary"

It ain't my first rodeo.
At least Dexter happened this millennium.
It's relevant, IMO, and even if it wasn't, that still wouldn't stop me from doing what I do.

Dexter doesn't warrant that kind of dedication, reviewing all 900 episodes or whatever.
But it's still good enough to talk about, especially while it's going on.

I was a cunt about it and in retrospect I felt bad about my hot take, so I never uploaded it.
[Dexter: Resurrection E1 "A Beating Heart" - Review & Commentary]
This shit is unlisted on YouTube and the extended version is on Patreon.
I was absolutely a bitch in this video, which is ultimately why I didn't post it. At this point I hadn't even seen E2, which was worlds better than the first. I will fully admit that E1 had me worried.
But now we know that the season has been fantastic, so it all worked out. However, I will say that lastnight's episode was the weakest since episode 1 in my opinion.
Video reviews in this format are not my shit at all, and I find writing commentary to be far more enjoyable. I do agree that not filming is a wasted opportunity though.
That said, I don't think anyone needs my opinion about this show on YouTube because there are SHIT TONS of channels covering it right now. Their videos get THOUSANDS of views and I guarantee you, they never say ANYTHING that would even remotely risk alienating their audience or anyone else who might stumble upon their reviews.
I didn't post this video because I didn't want hoards of pissed off Dexter fans coming at me for having an opinion that was anything less than a rave review about their precious show.
What SHOULD I have done? I should have posted this video on YouTube, day of. I should have reacted to each episode on video as it came out, and I should have uploaded that shit to YouTube. Am I sorry that I didn't? No, because I do what the fuck I want. If I don't feel like it, I don't do it. I stay true. And I always will, damn the consequences.

I wouldn't be happy about it, but this character belongs to him (and Jeff Lindsay) and therefore, what he says goes.
Jeff killed Dexter in the last book, but it wasn't on some lame "justice" bullshit.
No way he could top the ending of Six Feet Under with that Sia song lol maybe I was gayer back then but it got to me

Alrighty well, the teaser for E9 is out...
Super hot thumbnail, I gotta admit.
Before I even watch this, I just wanna say...
I want to see them take Dexter way off the beaten path into some dark, whack shit he ain't ever done before.
I wanna see Dexter MISBEHAVE.
They need to give us some freaky shit before they make Dexter sign off for good.
I don't even know WHAT I wanna see. I just wanna see SOMETHING. I wanna see this muhfucka get outta hand.
I want filth. I want smut. I want a jerry rigged version of 50 Shades of Grey meets Dexter meets Fight Club meets Cowboy Bebop type shiii.
I want it to be so ridiculous and so obscene that fans everywhere are threatening to burn their Dexter DVDs in the front yard.
But let me watch this damn trailer. Low key I'm not even excited because I'm so jaded from whatever the fuck that shit was lastnight. Like it wasn't terrible obviously, but it just left me with a massive case of blue balls.
These balls are violet honey, V I O LETTTT.
0:18 so that knife raising scene is in Prater's trophy room, which WOULD be promising except for the fact that they faked us the fuck out in the last trailer's "kill scene" that was supposed to be Rapunzel getting dealt with.
So I do not trust them now. I want to be excited, but on principle I cannot allow it.
They gotta win me back with E9.

I've heard the series finale of Six Feet Under was one of the greatest in TV history.

Yeah I just rewatched... not to spoil it but looked like his earlobe might have come into play!

It's definitely misdirection. People are saying that Dexter has to tell Prater he's the BHB because his balls are in a vice, and in this clip he's just demonstrating his kill method. It's believable because Dex doesn't look too pleased in that clip.
All the trailers have been misdirection and bait though.
I bet they wanted E8 to make some people feel all up in the air about it. It was probably intentional, but all I see everybody else saying is that was 10/10 and they loved and it blah blah. Well good for them.
They're also saying that Resurrection season 2 "writers room" is about to open up...

I dunno WTF they're gonna be doing, because they've already said the whole thing has been written.
Nice AI generated article BTW. I swear NOBODY writes their own shit anymore, it's so obvious.
Even when people think they're being clever with it, you can still tell.
Wild.

I really wish I could get into it cuz I love MCH's work, but the show just didn't land for me.
Then again, I don't have time to be obsessed with another show anyways.
I gotta let these things run their natural course. I got a fever baby and the only cure is more.
Until I burn the fuck out and lose interest entirely.
And then there's that awkward time after an obsession is over, you don't have a new fixation yet and there's a feeling of emptiness.
Thankfully that doesn't usually last for long though.

So I got curious and Googled what happened in the Six Feet Under series finale...
That's fucking insane yo.
I had no idea that's how his character died.
And I also gotta say, what a wild finale...
It looks like the direction they took was unique as hell.
I can see how it'd be a tearjerker from every angle.
Thanks for piquing my interest, otherwise I would not have looked it up.

The best one I found was an edited version, so I'm not even sure if it had the full effect. I remember it being a great show though... and I was pretty in love with Claire lol so glad she made it to 102.

Lol I also just remembered Nate was a doppelganger of a friend of mine at the time who ended up being a huge Dexter fan. I could never stand the intro of Dexter, but it always makes me think of him
