HD video is getting totally ridiculous...
I'm seeing videos like BS ads getting made in such high definition that normal embed size makes everything in the picture look all jagged. It's too sharp.
Most people are browsing on mobile devices these days, the screens are small anyway... why make it so HD??
Freaking annoying.
I have always felt this way about HD, but it's just getting more and more ridiculous.
HD is clearer than real life is. I don't need to see things in HD. I don't even want to.
I don't care about it. I don't care about high picture quality. At all. Never have, never will.
I rejected the concept of HD when they started coming out with HD TVs over a decade ago. I think it's stupid and overboard.
It's probably a conspiracy too.

i've been watching some actual quality streams of hd stuff, movies/tv. it at times looks so clear that it looks as if i'm looking at someone in person - which is the worst fucking thing for a movie that relies on suspension of disbelief. they had capped movies at 24 fps, which is below the ~29.97 fps the average person catches, for a good reason.
now, when it comes to non-fiction and nature type stuff - give me the aitchest of deez nutz you got.

There is a point where HD looks too fake. On some things it looks stunning, but on a lot of things it's just so unnatural.
Oddly, it reminds me of late 70's and early 80s video taped tv shows. If you're old enough to remember seeing some of those show when they first started going with video over film, you'll probably know just what I'm saying. The video was ultra clear.... and fake looking.
FWIW I agree, 720 is ok but I have a 1020 that looks like you are on set, no beuno.

The camera DOES lie. Sorry, but it's true. The cameras are LYING NOW.

The same cunts who complain about YouTube videos shot in 480p and video games with a frame rate less than 120 FPS.
Most of the movies I own are on Laserdisc, which is equivalent to today's 480p. They have a grainy quality somewhat reminiscent of watching old film prints at cinema.
