They did this thing that's been called the mother of all demos. It was a system called NLS (Online System). The computer was at Stanford while he did the demo miles away in another city. I think Stanford was one of the first universities on ARPANET.

With all the bots on Twitter, people aren't even reaching nearly as many ACTUAL other people as they like to think.

All the masses using these sites are too obsessed with themselves to actually care what another person is saying...

The only time they care and interact is if they think there's gonna be some kinda attention or clout in it for them.

99.9% of people just need to start up a WordPress blog though. The forum format is not gonna pay off for most people, and for noobs it'd be too hard anyway. WordPress has been made easy. If people want the option for others to comment, then just utilize the comments feature on WP blogs. It's good enough. I don't even recommend allowing comments. People can email you if they have some shit to say. If they want a platform to say some shit, they can make their own.

The only option for people to really contact me is to post their communication publicly on the site though... as for emails, if I can't see the crux of the communication in the email preview, I'm not gonna know what it says cuz I ain't opening it. Very rare occasion that I even open an email these days.

Yup, I was gonna say...

Every person who starts their own website should state multiple times or pin something somewhere encouraging all their visitors to start their own websites too.

It's kind of like paying it forward, it's ultimately a way of helping people out.

Everybody has something important to share, and they shouldn't waste it on a site like Twitter, or someone else's personal site either.
