Teaser for E8 is out...
0:06 so clearly the airpods are gonna start producing feedback and Dexter's gonna find them. This means he'll probably misdirect Angel to a fake kill room spot, and the theory is that Charley will be there at Prater's behest to take Angel out.
There's almost zero chance that E8 will be anything less than a 9.5 on the IMDb Richter scale, but it could be a very polarizing episode if indeed Angel is killed. So to avoid getting a bad rating for killing off yet another beloved character, they may decide to just have Angel get captured by Charley/Prater instead.
It'll probably be a situation where Dex has to choose between Angel or Harrison surviving. Something that will not polarize the audience too hard. It has to appeal to the choice they'd make if they were presented with the same circumstance. That's the only way to get rid of Angel without affecting the rating negatively.
Or maybe Angel survives somehow... they may take him out next season. I really dunno, but I can tell you that Dex could straight up murder the guy himself and I'd still slam that shit with a 10 star rating cuz I guarantee you aside from the Angel bullshit, this next episode is gonna be peak insanity.
Just look at the friggen thumbnail. Dex is clearly killing Rapunzel in this scene and he's going to be straight up fucking unhinged and VICIOUS against him because of Rapunzel's show and tell in the last episode. That bastard getting dealt with is gonna be glorious.
Dexter's season finales have a very rough history ratings wise. History repeats itself. I'll be interested to see how they break that cycle, IF they do.

No BS, I think Rapunzel is gonna be one of Dexter's best kills ever. I think the fans are going to love it. They're gonna rave about it. He looks scary as hell with the hosiery over his face.
All of the critics who have seen advanced episodes say each one is better than the last, and they already couldn't get any better. Only 3 more to go. Final episodes are always hella intense.

Usually I say that I think actors are just being themselves... but with MCH, I think he's probably the polar opposite of Dexter, he prolly don't even LIKE Dexter. I will talk more about that later.
So here's the deal...
I fully believe that Michael C. Hall probably leans toward disliking Dexter.
There have probably been times when he rued the day he ever agreed to play the part.
Not only has he been typecast, but he's been typecast into A SINGLE CHARACTER. That's even worse than regular typecasting.
The good news is, Dexter is a fucking money maker and it always has been.
The guy's had his face plastered on the side of buildings, he's had SO MUCH FUCKING FAME from this, the role has probably scored him more ass than some rockstars get. I am so, SO serious right now.
Why? Because Dexter is a fucking ALPHA. Chicks are pervs man, they wanna get dominated by a hotass dude who's willing to FUCKING KILL for them. That's not really what Dexter does, but... you get it. It's close enough.
You round up all the bitches who LOVE stalkers and psychos (only if they're hot obviously), the weirdo chicks who write to serial killers in prison and wanna marry them, the basic bitches who don't care about the other stuff but just like MCH cuz he's HOT AS FUCK...
The fame. The fortune. The notoriety.
And man, you have a recipe for ENDLESS ASS. ENDLESS FUCKING ASS, EVERY SECOND OF EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY HOUR.
Women AND men (especially in his case since he played the gay funeral director guy) throwing themselves at you on a literal constant basis.
It's for these reasons that we really can't feel sorry for MCH that he got typecast into literally one character for the rest of all eternity.
No one is gonna shed a tear about that shit besides him.
HOWEVER...
I'm thinking the guy has a spending problem, cuz it seems like he ran outta money the second the Dexter OG series ended, and within like 2 years max, he was taking up WEIRDASS acting roles that I will not even mention.
He started doing stage work again...
He just clearly needed money.
And they made Dexter: New Blood because he decided he needed money.
And they made Dexter: Resurrection, LITERALLY BRINGING THE CHARACTER BACK FROM THE FREAKING DEAD, because he totally definitely needed money.
At this point, he had realized that Dexter was his bread and butter, and nothing was ever gonna change that.
So he succumbed to it. He caved and decided he would devote himself to the role, AGAIN. Cuz it was a sure thing.
And what else in life has that much security?? Pft, not much man.
It's like a toxic relationship. Dexter is Michael C. Hall's sugar daddy. Period.
"Why can't they appreciate me for something other than Dexter? Why can't they see me any other way?"
Well homie, the real question is, can you handle the money better this time? Like where's it going? Is it your wife?? Has it always been your wives?? You need to revoke that Amex Black Card my guy. If she don't like it, she can pound sand. Like bye bitch.
In any case...
It could be worse.
At least he's had a stellar career that most actors would drool over, cuz most people who try to be in the biz just never make it. Let's be real.
MCH has lived the dream.

Think about this shit though...
Dexter is just a job.
I saw an interview where MCH was like, "Hey it's a good gig."
So he's locked into this job because nothing else seems to REALLY work out for him.
From his perspective, he probably feels the same way going to work as somebody flipping burgers.
THINK ABOUT THAT SHIT.
It's all the same.
It's all the same feeling.
The guy flipping burgers would love to be a WORLD FAMOUS ACTOR DROWNING IN PUSSY.
He-pussy AND regular pussy...
I digress.
You put that 20 year old dude flippin' burgers in MCH's shoes for a solid decade...
Both these people end up feeling the exact same way.
That's facts.

The mirror scene from S10 E7...
Video will get removed for sure, dunno how they even got it uploaded, even OG series Dexter clips are locked down hard.

Makes me wonder if these "random" channels have permission to upload these clips somehow.

Cuz it's the type of clip that people are just gonna keep uploading til one of them is allowed to stay. Maybe they leak them through random channels.

This is from the official Dexter YouTube channel.
I guess they post full on spoilers because they know somebody else is gonna do it, so they might as well just upload it themselves and get their cut.
Once they upload other legendary clips like the mirror scene, they'll probably go after the smaller channels and take 'em down.

It's like Doakes catching Dex on the dock all over again.
Angel dying is way too predictable though, there's gotta be a catch.
I'ma be annoyed when they delete these clips.
This shit is so good. Great song choice too...

I started watching Dexter at the end of June 2024 and finally finished up
the end of April this year and I loved it. First time ever seeing it. Great show.
Then, I started watching Six Feet Under and kinda lost my way at about
the halfway mark of season two. I'll get back to it eventually.
Also caught Mr. Robot for the first time when it came to Netflix, watched
the whole thing in July just past. Really great show.

Oh my God man...
Mr. freaking Robot.
I gotta make its own thread.
Some weeks back, I finished rewatching it for the first time.
At some point, I know I will have to brain dump all of my thoughts.
Even though I say it's the greatest show of all time, I know the Twilight Zone is the real greatest show of all time.
But as far as 'new' shows, Mr. Robot takes the cake.

So we gotta talk about the books...
I've been listening to them on Audible. I'm up to book 3, Dexter in the Dark. It's my favorite.
I'm looking forward to book 5, Dexter is Delicious. It has an insane plotline that involves cannibalism. But I don't really wanna go out of order, so I gotta listen to book 4, Dexter by Design first.
If it wasn't for MCH's fine ass playing Dexter, I might prefer the books over the show. But of course, being adapted to the screen gives deeper immersion into the Dexterverse that wouldn't exist otherwise. If it wasn't for the TV series, I never would have picked up the books. I doubt I would enjoy it as much if I didn't associate MCH with the character in my mind.
Jeff Lindsay's voice is even kinda similar to Michael C. Hall's voice, which is pretty damn handy and it sweetens the pot for sure if you're listening on Audible. I'm sure you can find free audiobook versions on YT etc. but they won't be voiced by Jeff.
Book version Dexter is fucking awesome. He's basically a total sociopath with no discernible emotion, yet he has a great sense of humor and JUST ENOUGH relatability, which really only comes from his thoughts/inner dialogue.
I like the fact that Dexter has an aversion to sex, he doesn't understand carnal desires and the need to be with other people. He just uses Rita for cover so that he can appear normal. He basically thinks she's a dumbass and he's totally mystified by her, but not in a captivated or romantic kind of way. He just thinks everyone is dumb BECAUSE they're human.
TV show Dexter started out that way, but he ended up "caring" about Rita way more than it looks like Book Dexter is going to. Granted, I am not convinced Show Dexter ever actually gave a shit about Rita, but he was forced to act like he did way more than Book Dexter.
I seriously dislike Deb in the books. She is rarely palatable. Jeff Lindsay does a great job voicing the different characters, and to hear him voice her is exactly the way he must hear her in his own head. Meaning she is a total fucking cunt and wholly unlikable if you ask me. That said, it dawned on me while listening toward the end of book 2 lastnight, she DOES know Dexter's secret. That could be one of the reasons she's such an obnoxious bitch. Regardless, I don't like her. I'm shocked I liked her at all in the TV show, and the fact is... I really don't like anyone in the TV show that much besides Dexter himself.
I don't give a shit about Deb, Rita, Cody or Astor... don't give a shit about Harrison. BTW, in the books, Dexter has a daughter, not a son. I won't give a shit about her either. They're all non-Dexter characters, and they simply don't matter. I feel that way about the books and the show.
I also appreciate the books because Jeff Linsday does a great job explaining what the Dark Passenger REALLY is. It's too bad they didn't lean more into the book's interpretation on the TV show, but whatevs. Like I said... it's dumbed down for TV, wide consumption. It's good enough.
Another thing I like about the books is that Jeff clearly FUCKING HATES pedos, because it seems like Dexter focuses on them a lot. He takes great pleasure in hunting them down and taking them out. In book 2 chapter 27 at the 14:00 mark, Dexter discovers the incriminating evidence he's looking for, and it mentions the predator is associated with N*MBL*. Not even gonna put those letters together on this site. I was shocked to hear the organization called out by name. The Dexter books got some balls, and Jeff has no qualms making it clear exactly whose name is fucking mud.
The TV show didn't really follow along in that same brazen vein. But again, it had to be fit for wide consumption. It's a great show, really can't complain. If I'd seen some shit I hated, I'da called it out.
And I will do so in the future if I see anything that completely repulses me.
For example...
There was no mention of the CV fiasco in New Blood, even though the show took place in 2021. It was a great relief to see the Dexterverse completely disregard the global situation. Shows like Shameless failed in an unforgivably miserable way during that time. Leave that fucking nonsense the fuck out of Dexter, forever. I don't give a fuck if a global nuke war breaks out while they're filming Resurrection during the next few years. Don't address any of that kind of bullshit. We watch to escape. Period.

I will say, the books are exceedingly violent. I actually dislike how graphic they can get, and I'm glad the TV show mostly put a lid on that aspect of things. Book Dexter is a savage motherfucker. But it's not the depictions of his violent acts that really bother me that much, it's really that Jeff (and his wife who apparently helped him write these books) went balls to the wall in describing how horrible the other killers are, so it makes Dexter seem like a breath of fresh air in comparison.
BTW, when I was first looking into the books, I rolled my eyes when I found out that Jeff Lindsay's wife is Hilary Hemingway. Yeah. THAT namesake. Exactly that one. I was like, "Oh well no fucking wonder his book got all this attention and was made into a TV show, he's married to a fucking Hemingway."
And I'm not saying there isn't something to that, BUT...
There was a (text) interview with Jeff Lindsay wherein he basically said he was ignored and not taken seriously in the early days, partly BECAUSE of who his wife is.
He either talks a great line of shit, or he's being real. I choose to think that being married to a descendant of Hemingway wasn't as much of a boon to his writing as I had initially assumed. He claims it was very hard to get any eyes on his book, and nobody really wanted to publish it. I'm glad I read into the history instead of just slamming the gavel and assuming everything was handed to him because of his wife.

Quote:Lindsay got the idea while being stiffed by businessmen who hired him to speak on "why you should read at least one book before you die", he said.
They were more interested in wisecracking among themselves.
"The idea came into my head that serial murder is not always a bad thing," he recalled devilishly. "So I started writing notes on the napkins."
It took almost five years to wind up the first book in the series.
"It's only because my wife threatened me that I finished the book."
Lindsay met Hemingway in Hollywood, where he worked for 12 years doing a bit of everything from actor, comedian to musician and playwright. It was his wife-to-be who suggested he focus on writing.

Michael C. Hall has narrated a few audiobooks and his work is excellent.
My personal favorite so far is "The Lost Dinosaurs of Ancient Egypt" (2002) and from what I can tell, he voiced it WAY back in the day. Like 2002 type shit. If so, it would have been his first narration work and I think he was trying to prove something, because the words he had to pronounce throughout this book were crazy. I think he purposely chose some of the hardest shit he could find so that no one would question his abilities.
I get the impression that narrating audiobooks is actually really hard. He probably shot his wad on that book and then decided he'd keep pursuing hollywood instead.
In more recent years, he also narrated Breakfast at Tiffany's and Pet Sematary.
A lot of his fans are hoping he does more audiobook narration in the future. His voice is very relaxing. I like falling asleep to the Lost Dinosaurs book, not only because of his voice, but because it is a topic which interests me.
If he steps back from acting as he gets older, voice work would be an excellent way to stay in the game but not have to jump through as many hoops. Especially after Dexter really does end, he's gonna need something to fall back on and I think narrating would be a pretty chill option.

I've seen a lot of people say that MCH should narrate the Dexter books, but I think it's unnecessary. Jeff's voice sounds too similar to his and it would be kind of redundant. Now if Jeff sounded NOTHING like MCH, then yeah, I'd say he should narrate them. But their voices are similar enough that it's kind of like beer goggles, you squint a little bit and hell, you're practically listening to MCH. It also helps if you're half asleep.
Which BTW... I've been listening to these Dexter audiobooks in bed and I typically fall asleep within the first ~15 minutes, if that. Works like a charm, but I usually don't even remember turning it off. I should probably start listening to something else at bedtime.
I'm picky about narrators though. And I don't want to buy any short audiobooks, if it's under 6 hours then I really don't see the point. I just got "The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft" today, narrated by Sam Kusi. Oh my God, there was never a more perfect bedtime narrator voice, let me tell you what.
Listen to the sample, this guy's voice is like velvet, sooo relaxing and there aren't any big volume peaks either, at least not in the sample. I don't like it when they raise their voices for emphasis or to show variation between characters. Lovecraft's writing style is such a perfect match for Sam Kusi's narration style and I can't wait to fall asleep to this one. It's FIFTY HOURS LONG. Best Audible credit I ever spent.

I guess what I find most interesting about my relationship with the Dexterverse is that I like it so much, DESPITE all of the things I don't like about it.
Dexter being married. Dexter having kids. These are things I can't relate to and simply don't care about. But people like me are outliers. Most people are married and saddled down with kids, and to be broadly relatable, I guess a story has to have those elements.
You know, this raises an interesting point. Maybe this is why YA romance and fantasy novels are so popular. They're dealing with young people, like in the case of Twilight, those fuckers were in high school. Or in the case of 50 Shades, they were in their early 20s and hadn't done the whole marriage/kids thing yet.
People read that kind of stuff to escape, and to have some kind of grand experience that doesn't exist in real life.
I guess Dexter was appealing to people who were a little older. Twilight and 50 Shades did bring the kids and marriage bullshit in eventually. Gross. Why does everything gotta get ruined?
