This incident ALONE proves that this situation is being mishandled on an extreme level in the US.

Huge backlog of infection verification, likely shortage of test kits means that people aren't being diagnosed officially, and therefore when they die, they're not being recorded as having died from the coronavirus.
In short, these numbers are based upon cases that were verified most likely a week ago or longer.
