Ordinarily, I'd say "Nightmares and 808s" is redundant, as most songs that use the 808 nowadays (mostly hip-hip) have dumpster fire drum tracks, but they use it to good effect here.

I refer you to a little book titled Drum Programming: A Complete Guide to Program and Think Like a Drummer by Ray F. Badness.
